I got a dorsal slit... what should I do now?

  • I had surgery last Friday (dorsal slit) and had to go into the ER this past Sunday or Saturday for another inspection and clean-up. They actually were pulling the foreskin over the head of my penis so that it wouldn't hurt so damn much, because I am extremely sensitive right now.

So, I need some help on what to do while I'm in the recovery process of this. The foreskin is back underneath the head of my penis again, and although it isn't painful/uncomfortable right now, it becomes that when the head of my penis is irritated from touching my boxers, my skin, or anything else.

So right now, the ventral foreskin is really swollen it looks like, the head is very raw looking and feels ultra sensitive, and the dorsal foreskin seems to be stuck underneath the glans, and pulling it back it can be a bit sticky (just a little bit of crusted blood it looks like). So, that's about it.

I've been looking more into the dorsal slit now and just need some words of encouragement, second opinions, and overlooks from others who have taken this option to counteract phimosis.

    Thanks in advance!

  • go get circumized.

  • A dorsal slit should never be used as a cure for phimosis and should only be used for the initial relief of the swelling of paraphimosis. A full circumcision is the ONLY proper course of action to cure/prevent phimosis and/or paraphimosis.

A dorsal slit leaves all the foreskin but prevents it from covering the dorsal (top) aspect of the penis and thus it hangs down like a tassel below the glans at the back, where the skin is still attached. This is the worst of all worlds as you don't have any proper glans covering if that was what you wanted to keep, nor do you have full exposure of the coronal sulcus (groove) to prevent any build-up of smegma.

The tassel of foreskin is very prone to becoming abraded during sex and may cause difficulties for your partner too.

Around 5 days after the surgery is too soon to expect it to have all healed. It will take almost as long as a proper circumcision (ie 3-4 weeks) before all the swelling and excess sensitivity is sorted out.

Once you've had a dorsal slit there is no going back to having your glans covered by foreskin again. Your best bet is to wait for the swelling to subside and then get the full circumcision that you should have been given in the first place.
