How many people vote for a candidate based on the ONE issue that means the most to them?

  • Take gun laws for instance. Do people just disregard all the other issues in this country just to vote in a guy who agrees with their stance on ONE single issue?

  • this is why we are in this sad state. look at the big picture.

  • I think that's a broad question. People vote for many reasons. I think all people should be educated on all topics before picking a candidate. People do have priorities and I believe they may prioritize certain things over others and then see how the candidate weighs on each.

  • Probaly quite a few.
An informed voter will make a list of all the things that are important to them, grade each candidate based on that list, and vote for the one with the higher score.
But, to the best of my recollection, I have never heard anyone accuse the voting public as being informed.

  • alot

  • im voting for bob barr because macain and obama are both frauds. i am a independant free thinker political geniuis

  • some do - my main issue is the economy and that encompasses lots of areas. I will not vote for a socialist that will have Nazi Pelosi running things

  • Not me, I take a look at the whole big picture.

  • Probably most do.

  • I didn't because of one issue before but since McCain picked Palin as his running mate I totally decided to vote for Obama.

  • Do some people? Possibly. But consider that guns mean security to some people, and that concern for security probably branches out to their community/neighbors, and country.
I'm betting it's rarely as simple as voting just 'one' issue.

  • Many,but not me.

  • the gay ones

  • I would say a heck of a lot of folks do that.

  • Not me. Gotta look at the whole package. I know this requires thinking and research.... something most Americans are not interested in doing.

  • Yes
Taxes (and how that tax money is spent. I wouldn't mind paying high taxes if I knew the money would be spent on education and local fire/police. I do not agree with high taxes to fund wars).

IMHO, of course. But yes, I do vote based on that.

  • Yes, i will vote Obama because McCain is just a liar, period. McCain wouldn't know the truth, if his name was truth.

  • i don't. that's why i really dislike obama and mccain but i have to choose so t might as well be the person that isn't a terrorist.

    nobama
    go McCain!!

  • Of course, Health insurance is a really big issue for me. I cannot even afford to add my son on my insurance.

  • i do, I would never ever vote for a baby killer, or someone who denies real rights like the 2nd amendment.

  • a lot.....

I actuall meant people who voted for Bush because of gay marriage and abortion only...just those two things..and because he was "saved".

But when I sat down with them and told them and educated them on Bush's actually economic philosophy and ideology, and proved to them how Bush was actually working against their own economic interest and how they had voted him in power to do so, they became anti Bush cause they saw the error of their narrow minded ways. Well, actually what they do is hate on cheney more than Bush thinking that somehow its the evil sneering shifty eyed cheney that got Bush to do all that bad stuff. lol

    its really amazing.

  • Obama's character and judgement IS the issue!

I'm struggling like everyone else, but I wouldn't vote for Socialist Obama if he promised me a million dollar earmark.

    AMERICAN PATRIOTISM COMES FIRST!

  • A lot. I think abortion is a key issue for a lot of people.

  • to many

  • I do ..Go McCain.

  • I think those that say they do aren't being truthful to themselves. They may feel strongly about an issue, but when you get down to it, there are other reasons perhaps even prejudice (not necessarily race) things that influence their vote

  • No, an informed voter looks at several issues and makes a determination based on their core principles

  • i say those people are idiots.
    and they are.

  • yea lots of ppl do i think its wrong but it doesnt matter they still will do wat they want

  • Too many.
And in the case of gun control and abortion, they are basing their vote for President on an issue that is under the control of Congress.

  • Too many. It's how we ended up with Palin on the ticket. McCain needs those single issue crackpot votes.
