How can I remove a contact from my messenger list when that contact does NOT appear to be there?

  • Back in college I did a lot of chatting via Messenger. One of those contacts (dont recall who this person is) keeps showing up on my messenger list, but when I go to Contacts to delete it, it is Not in there!! Therefore I cannot delete the contact. Help!


  • You need to put a contact on your Ignore List first, otherwise he can still see you when you are online and send you a message, because your ID is still on his Messenger list. Here's what to do:

    right click on their icon -> scroll down to stealth settings -> change them to appear permanently offline. Then click on messenger (top left on the messenger window) -> click preferences -> scroll down to ignore list -> click and in the next window add them to your ignore list -> click o.k. Then go back -> right click their icon and delete.

    Note: there is a limit of 100 names that you can put on permanent ignore.


  • most probably you have unchecked the show offline contacts. or other wise if its yahoo delete him from yahoo mail address book
