Cash or Q miles?
YYZ flights were posted. Called Aeroplan and they insist that I never flew the YWG - YFO
-YWG portions of the flight. I now have a choice of sending in the boarding cards and getting the 1,000 Q miles (2X500) or getting a refund on the unused (according to A.C.)
flights. Would be around $400.00 +.
What would you do?
Biggles.
The whole point of this post was to draw attention to the fact that A.C, has no record of my being on the flight. What if the flight had had an accident. I was never on it (according to A.C.) my wife would now be reporting me to the local police force as a missing person. Well I hope she would!!!

Will you need 1K status miles for a higher status? IOW, are you going to end the year at 34K or 99K? If not, then I wouldn't bother "paying" $400 for 1K points. Or you could wait until year-end and see (since you have six months to claim the points, right?)
Will you be in a bonus situation where the points matter? e.g. 49500 and a 10K bonus on the line for the 1K status miles? 11K points are worth $330.00 at 3c each, so in that case you _might_ want the points.
Barring a 10K bonus, or complications if AC comes after you for the money later, I'd take the refund.

I am S.E. and have no desire to qualify again. In fact I am trying to fly with other airlines as much as possible because I am not getting value from A.C. on my full fare flights. All of my flights are full Y1. The points are not that important to me. I will let it ride. As you say I have six months to decide.
Biggles.
I faxed the boarding cards to Montreal.
Per the Aeroplan Website (https://www.aeroplan.com/en/account/account_missing_miles.jsp) you will need to do the following:
To receive retroactive credit for flights, send a legible copy of your ticket or your electronic ticket receipt AND the original boarding pass(es) to the Aeroplan Centre.
The faxed copies of the boarding passes will likely mean a letter sent to you requesting the original boarding passes plus a copy of your ticket.
They will find out that you did fly those flights sooner of later (probably thru accounting) and you don't want to give them the impression that you tried to get money back despite the fact that you did fly those flights.
$400 is NOT worth losing your whole Aeroplan account. [Remember Robert Lawrie?]
It was a paper ticket and I do remember
Robert Lawrie.
Biggles.
Notwithstanding the fact that other carriers will settle for a fax, I'm sure the real reason is so you won't then claim the same flights on LH, UA, etc.
