I have a colleague who purchased a ticket on July 17, 2001, and just remembered that he had it. Is there any recourse, or anything he can do to not have the ticket be a complete waste?

option no ticket counter will accept it because it is over 1 year old.Send it into customer solutions you might have some luck. I was EXTREMELY lucky in getting two tickets reinstated. both were were 13th months old. When you write mention how much other travel was done on AC during that year(cite $ amount) they might cut you some slack. That is probably what saved me.I ran into the same thing last year - had a ticket that was 13 mos old (a V class fare) and was told by AC too bad when I asked about using it.
