Were just thinking about letting this house go any advice?
wasnt long after we moved in we started getting problems like cracked and leaking foundation. you cannot drink the water even though it passed inspection if you do not keep salt in the water sofner your bath water is dark brown. The dry wall started coming apart from the ceiling. So ok we though we could live with that.
We had found some black mold in the bathroom last summer my husband gutted it out and it was full of the mold we put new dry wall up and new beams. Then yesterday he went up underneath the house to try to seal up the cracked foundation and he came out and said you will not beleive the black mold underneath there. He said its completly blacked out with it. In the garage which i have pictures of it growing up the wall and along the basebourds. We just had a newborn baby and I cant expose him to this! What do we did? Thinking about letting it go our children is more important then our perfect credit score. We understand its going to be hard finding a rental home now but like i said the children are most important and we will move back in with my parents for a while if needed. any advice!!???
Mold can be safely abated by spraying with bleach to kill the spores, and then covering with a good quality enamel paint.
More people die from Hantavirus from cleaning up mice droppings each year than have ever died from mold spores, which is the most common of all air pollutant. I don't know why the media gives mold all the hype and nothing to Hantavirus, except maybe mold deaths are so rare they are news.
as for letting the home go...don't do it. are you making payments on it? as long as you are, you would almost be better off selling it and just breaking even or taking a slight loss than letting it go into foreclosure and nuking your credit. you should be concerned about your child's health. however, a foreclosure is going to stay on your credit reports for 7 - 10 years. it's also going to make getting another loan or even renting difficult during at least the first 3 years. i would talk to your lender and an attorney before you do anything.
